Malva Sylvestris, also known as Common mallow, is a plant native to Europe, mainly the Mediterranean countries, and also found in North Africa and Asia that is known for its antioxidant, wound healing, diuretic, expectorant, against edema, bum, wound, for their carminative, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
It’s especially rich in mucus substances and the flowers of this subspecies are therefore used extensively in herbal medicine.
Common Use
Used as a herbal remedy for asthma, bronchitis, coughing, throat infections, and emphysema. It’s also used to treat wounds or inflammation of the mucous membrane in the mouth, throat, stomach, and intestines.
Other uses include the treatment of gallstones, kidney stones, kidney inflammation, headache, constipation, gastritis, toothaches, and insomnia.
