Are there any contraindications to taking Melatonin?
Contraindications
Because of the risk of drowsiness, loss of alertness, or balance, it is recommended not to drive a vehicle for 4 or 5 hours after taking melatonin. Melatonin should not be taken by people suffering from inflammatory or auto-immune diseases (cancer, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, etc.), pregnant or breastfeeding women, children, and adolescents.
The use of melatonin should be checked by a doctor for people with epilepsy, asthma or mood, behaviour, or personality disorders.
The use of food supplements containing melatonin in combination with medication should be discussed with a doctor. The same applies to herbs or supplements with anticoagulant properties. A synthetic hormone should not be taken for more than three months.
Laboratoires Activa proposes a natural supplement with melatonin designed to reduce stress and support the circadian cycle using the technology of microgranule. An extended release formula that allows release of the active ingredients over 8 hours as well as their gastroprotection for better absorption.
